Expendable: Francisco Jimenez Breaking Through Scholarship

The Expendable: Francisco Jimenez Breaking Through Scholarship was established on September 9th, 2015 by Lorenzo Gamboa, Eva Blanco, and Sandra Hayes. This scholarships was established in honor of Professor Jimenez’s retirement after 42 years of teaching at SCU after immigrating with his family to California from Tlaquepaque, Mexico. He was the Fay Boyle Professsor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, and director of the Ethnic Studies Program at SCU. He has published and edited several books on Mexican and Mexican American literature and was selected the 2002 US Professor of the Year by CASE and Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Impact

The purpose of the Expendable: Francisco Jimenez Breaking Through Scholarship is to provide scholarships for deserving undergraduate students, with a preference for first-generation Latino/as.

Scholarships
