Fr. William Gianera, S.J. Scholarship

The Fr. William Gianera, S.J. Scholarship was established in 1981 to honor former SCU President, Father William Gianera. Fr. William started as an undergraduate at SCU in 1903 and joined the Jesuits in 1907. He would return to campus full-time in 1928 to become the Dean of Faculty. Finally, he served as the University’s President from 1945 to 1951. During his time as President at SCU, he focused on strengthening the University’s finances, increasing quality of education, and boosting enrollment.
