George Leal Family Endowed Scholarship

In recognition of his long association with Santa Clara University including his membership on the University’s Board of Regents, his former role as Chairman of the School of Engineering Advisory Board, his membership in the President’s Club, and as a former alumnus and parent, George D. Leal ’55 established the George Leal Family Endowed Fund in 1995 to support undergraduate civil engineers from St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco. As a Class of 1951 graduate from St. Ignatius High School, George wanted to provide the gift of Santa Clara’s transformative education to those with a similar upbringing.

Impact

The George Leal Family Endowed Fund shall provide financial assistance for graduates of St. Ignatius High School, San Francisco, majoring in civil engineering. A second preference is for a St. Ignatius graduate enrolled in engineering. Recipients should demonstrate good academic standing and financial need.
