Irving and Delores Souza Endowed Scholarship Fund
Irving Souza was born in Guadalupe, California in 1914. His family moved to San Jose where he attended Santa Clara University. In San Jose, Irving met Dolores George, who was born and raised in San Jose and had attended Notre Dame School for Girls. Irving graduated from Santa Clara with a degree in Business Administration in 1936 and he and Dolores were married that same year. After spending a few years in San Jose, where Irving worked for the Bank of America, they moved to Santa Maria. Both Irving and Dolores were active in the community life of Santa Maria. Dolores joined the Minerva Club and worked to promote the participation of women in business. Irving served as Director and President of the Marian Medical Foundation Board and was a founding member of Los Padres National Bank and served as Chairman of the Board. Irving and Dolores never forgot the contribution of Santa Clara University to their life and faith and were long-time supporters of Catholic education.
