Jim Farwell Bronco Bench Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund for Men's Crew
The Jim Farwell Bronco Bench Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund for Men’s Crew was established on June 18th, 2012, by William L. Dow ’73.
William Dow ‘73, a Chemistry major during his undergraduate, was primarily involved in Men’s rowing under his long-time coach and the program’s founder Jim Farwell. James “Jim” D. Farwell ‘66, is one of the founding members of the Santa Clara Rowing Programs. As a rower and head coach in 1965, Farwell had an undefeated inaugural season. He acted as head coach of both men’s and women’s rowing teams for more than 20 years. Jim Farwell was inducted into the Santa Clara University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998 for his contributions to the programs. Because of his impact on student-athletes at Santa Clara, William Dow has partnered with SCU with to make a fund in Jim Farwell’s name.
Impact
The purpose of the Jim Farwell Bronco Bench Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund for Men’s Crew is to provide scholarships for students that demonstrate dedication to the sport of men’s crew, leadership, and academic success.
