Lillian Bow and Duane Barber Endowed Scholarship for Women’s Softball

Lilian Bow and Duane Barber watched their granddaughter Meghan Chavez Railey ’08 play softball throughout her college career. Upon Duane’s passing, it was his desire to support the program they loved so much; Lilian Bow, his partner, would go on to establish the Lillian Bow and Duane Barber Endowed Scholarship for Women’s Softball on March 3rd, 2020.

Meghan Railey ‘08 played softball at SCU and participated in Ruff Rider events throughout her time at Santa Clara until finally graduating with a degree in finance. After graduating, Meghan herself donated to the Santa Clara Fund as well as the Women’s softball program. Upon being asked why, she said: “I had a fantastic experience at Santa Clara and I felt that giving back would help show my appreciation. My parents supported me all throughout college. You can thank them for giving me the opportunity.” Meghan and Lilian remain active participants and donors in the SCU family.
