Robert Southwell, S.J. Scholarship
In 2001, an anonymous donor established this scholarship to honor the memory of Robert Southwell, S.J. Robert Southwell, (born 1561, Horsham St. Faith, Norfolk, Eng.—died March 4, 1595, London), English poet and martyr remembered for his saintly life as a Jesuit priest and missionary during a time of Protestant persecution and for his religious poetry. Fr. Southwell was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1970. His feast is December 1st.
Impact
The Robert Southwell, S.J., Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance for deserving undergraduates who seek Jesuit Catholic education. Preference will be given to students who are first or second generation immigrants who have limited access to college.
