The Sobrato Family Scholarship Endowment

The Sobrato Family Scholarship Endowment was established by the Sobrato Organization on December 8th, 2021.

John Michael Sobrato graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in Economics in 1983. He is the third-generation to be involved within his family-owned business and is current chairman of the Sobrato Organization, where he has worked since his teens. He is very involved in the local community and is a past chair of numerous non-profit boards, including the Silicon Valley Community Foundation; Bellarmine College Preparatory; KTEH Public Television; Santa Clara University’s Board of Fellows and Board of Regents; Catholic Charities of San Jose; the San Jose Repertory Theater; and Charities Housing Development Corporation and Santa Clara University’s Board of Fellows and Board of Regents. He has served as Chairman for the SCU Board of Trustees from 2018-2021 as well as a Commencement Speaker for the Undergraduate Class of 2020. John M. Sobrato and his family have been invaluable and irreplaceable members of the SCU family and still remain active in the community today.

Impact

The purpose of the Sobrato Family Scholarship Endowment is to provide financial support for undergraduate students from ICA Cristo Rey Academy in San Francisco, California and Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School in Oakland, California.
