Expendable: The Scott Robertson Technical Scholar Fund

9/30/09- changed name from the Scott Robertson Design and Technology Scholarship to the Scott Robertson Technical Scholar Fund per email attached. To support design and technical students who are majors in the Department of Theatre and Dance by providing funding for special projects, and travel for conferences or workshops, or other opportunites which enrich the student experience as determined by the Chair of the Department in consultation with senior technology faculty. In memory of Theatre Faculty Member-Scott Robertson. email sent on 9/30/09 Dear Laura: As we discussed last week, major and continuing donors to the Scott Robertson Design and Technology Scholarship (#46066) discussed with the Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance, Barbara Murray, their concerns about the impact their gift was making for the students, and if there might be a better way to directly enhance the student experience. After discussion with Jerald Enos, Associate Professor, Scene Design, and Department Chair at the time the fund was created, it was agreed that with anywhere from maybe $1,000 to $1,500 contributed annually, the design and technical students would be better served with monies which supported opportunities for them to work on special projects or attend conferences and workshops in the field. Please change the name from the: “Scott Robertson Design and Technology Scholarship” to: The Scott Robertson Technical Scholar Fund Please change the allowable expenditures from: “Scholarships for students in design/tech classes for Theatre; Department selected” to: To support design and technical students who are majors in the Department of Theatre & Dance by providing funding for special projects, fees and travel for conferences or workshops, or other opportunities which enrich the student experience as determined by the Chair of the Department in consultation with senior technical faculty.
