I haven’t received anything but I thought maybe you might of spoke with him. I would like to get that form over to you so you can set up the fund and move the monies out of holding this week if possible. Laura >>> Ramona Sauter 8/24/2010 3:00 PM >>> Charlie, Laura Milobar and I have worked out most of the details on the new fund. However, we need to know the fund name. Suggestion- “RNN-Women in Math and Science Scholarship”. If this is not acceptable, please let me know who can give us this information. Thanks, Ramona >>> Laura Milobar 8/24/2010 2:47 PM >>> Ramona, Thank you for the email trail, Lorraine had already provided this to use to set up the paperwork. I have an email out to Michael Sexton because their is no information in this email that will help me set up the paperwork. As soon as I hear from him on the details, I will get the form to you to help facilitate. Thank you, Laura >>> Ramona Sauter 8/24/2010 2:36 PM >>> Laura, This is the email string regarding the RNN fund. Could you please your this info to initiate. I forgot Lorraine was out of the office. Financial Aid usually does not fill this out. This is to set up a fund per Fr Engh and Ann Bowers’ instructions on monies that I believe are in holding. Thanks, Ramona >>> Ramona Sauter 8/24/2010 10:15 AM >>> Lorraine, Please have Laura create a new fund request. For this RNN designation. If I recall, the monies are in the holding fund, correct? We will notify Financial Aid once the fund has been set up. Thanks, Ramona >>> Charles Erekson 8/24/2010 7:49 AM >>> Joel and Ramona: We will need to set up a new gift fund and related financial aid and financial system support for this gift from the RNN Foundation. I am not sure where the funds are parked now, but I am sure that Ramona can find them. Thanks, Charlie >>> Michael Engh 8/23/2010 5:15 PM >>> Mike, Anne Bowers directed that the $600k gift from the RNN Foundation received in the last fiscal year was to fund scholarships for women in math and science. To that end, it is new money, to be awarded in a new area of emphasis over 4 years to a group of women starting this academic year ($150k annually for each of the four years). If there are further questions, please let me know. I look forward to receiving the names and background information of the recipients, as I wish to inform Ms. Bowers and, possibly, invite her to have lunch with them on campus in the fall quarter. Many thanks for the help. Fr. Engh >>> Mike Sexton 8/23/2010 11:42 AM >>> Ann Bowers scholarships for women interested in math and science. Unfortunately, there is not a simple answer to the question of which women are getting this money… yet. I was just at a meeting with Dennis and Charlie and they had a number of questions about this that I could not answer. They were aware of a previous non-profit (RNN) on which Paul sat on the board and that there was a flow of gift money used for different purposes over the year. If we are correct that this latest $600,000 is not a new endowment, then we will use $150,000 to offset need-based aid already awarded to entering women. This process takes place at the end of the summer after awards have gone out to continuing students. It will be done shortly. Rich being gone for a few weeks has given everyone a few more things to do. There is a question of whether this is new gift money or, specifying a new area to emphasize when spend existing interest. In past years RNN interest has supported the Core, the global incubator, school of education, etc. The good news is the substantial numbers of enrolling FR women interested in math, science and engineering. Here are the numbers for incoming first year women. All Engineering = 79 Biochemistry = 14 Biology = 74 Chemistry = 6 Computer Science & Math = 4 Engineering Physics = 1 Environmental Science = 10 Mathematics = 5 Physics = 2 Public Health Science = 13 Michael Sexton Vice President of Enrollment Management Santa Clara University 500 El Camino Real Santa Clara, CA 95053 http://www.scu.edu ( http://www.scu.edu/ ) ( http://www.scu.edu/ ) ( http://www.scu.edu/ )( http://www.scu.edu/) P – 408-554-4700 F – 408-551-1942
